Registration procedure
Registering with The Mind Firm
You can register with us by filling out the registration form on this page. If you have been referred via Zorgdomein, you do not need to register again through our website. We will contact you within 48 hours.
To assess whether we can offer a suitable treatment, a telephone screening call of approximately 15 minutes will be scheduled with one of our practitioners. If this conversation indicates that we can assist you with your care needs, we will schedule an intake appointment with you. You must have a valid referral letter from your general practitioner or other referrer prior to the first intake appointment.
Intake and Consultation
During two intake sessions of 60 minutes each, we aim to get a clear understanding of your complaints and life history. After the intake, we will schedule a 60-minute consultation. In this session, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that includes the diagnosis, treatment approach, methods, goals, and the expected duration of the treatment. Sometimes, additional psychological testing is necessary to reach a careful diagnosis and treatment recommendation. In such cases, the intake and diagnosis phase will take longer. Because we view social contacts as crucial in everyone's life, we often request that a partner, parent, or other significant person accompanies you during the intake phase.

Therapy
You can contact us for various forms of psychotherapy. For short-term treatments aimed at less complex problems and for specialized psychotherapy aimed at long-standing complaints and stuck patterns. The approach depends on the question and the complaints. Usually there is an integrative approach, which means that we combine several forms of therapy. Research has shown that the relationship with the practitioner largely determines the effectiveness of the treatment. It is therefore important that you use the intake interviews to experience whether you think you can achieve a pleasant collaboration.
Observation
In the event of a long-term absence of a practitioner, we always try to arrange for a replacement within our team so that the treatment can continue. In case of short absences, such as holidays, you can discuss with your practitioner whether a temporary replacement is desirable.
Providing information to other care providers
At The Mind Firm it is customary that general practitioners are regularly informed about the progress of the treatment. It may also happen that another institution requests information about a client, for example when the switch has been made to another psychologist. However, this provision of information only takes place after the client's explicit consent.
Privacy
It goes without saying that we will treat all information confidentially. This means that no information goes out without your permission. Since the introduction of the Health Insurance Act in 2008, we as healthcare providers are obliged to include a code on the invoice that refers to a diagnosis group. In the context of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we have drawn up a privacy statement that explains how we at The Mind Firm handle information from individuals and personal data.
Complaints
Are you dissatisfied with the way the treatment is going? Would you have proposed the treatment differently or are there other things that were disappointing? Let us know! We will find out together whether we can find a solution. If this does not work, you can contact the National Association of Independent Psychologists & Psychotherapists (LVVP) to request mediation or file a complaint. More information about this can be found here .
